In continuation of the reactivation of SERVICOM units in Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) across the Delta State, the Senior Policy Adviser to Governor Sheriff Oborevwori on Policy, SERVICOM and Labour Relations, Rt. Hon. Funkekeme Solomon has relaunched the units at the Okpe, Ethiope East, and Ughelli South Local Government Secretariats.
While addressing the Chairmen of Okpe, Ethiope East, and Ughelli South Local Government Areas Hon. Funkekeme Solomon, Hon. Isaiah Esiovwa, Chief Augustine Ogedegbe, and Dr. Lucky Avweromre respectively alongside principal council staff, emphasized that SERVICOM, established by the Federal Government in 2004, remains the vehicle for delivering the Governor’s M.O.R.E. Agenda of meaningful development, opportunities for all, realistic reforms, enhanced peace and security to the people.
They noted that as the third tier of government closest to the grassroots, local councils must align their administration with the Governor’s vision by ensuring timely, accountable, and transparent service delivery that upholds citizens’ rights.
Hon. Funkekeme urged the council chairmen to establish functional SERVICOM units in their secretariats, disclosing that a mandatory sensitization seminar for all council workers will soon be organized to educate them on strict adherence to SERVICOM principles in the discharge of their duties.
He further highlighted Governor Oborevwori’s achievements within two years in office, citing massive infrastructural projects, improvements in the health and education sectors, human capital development, and enhanced security across the state.
In their separate remarks, the Chairmen of Okpe, Ethiope East, and Ughelli South Local Government Areas Hon. Isaiah Esiovwa, Chief Augustine Ogedegbe, and Dr. Lucky Avweromre expressed appreciation to Rt. Hon. Funkekeme Solomon for taking the SERVICOM message across the 25 councils as directed by the Governor.
They affirmed their commitment to the M.O.R.E. Agenda, noting efforts already made in environmental sanitation, health, education, security, and the upgrade of council secretariats.
The chairmen also used the occasion to present some of their challenges to the Senior Policy Adviser.
The visit to the three local government areas’ secreteriats was climax with the presentation of SERVICOM documents by Rt. Hon. Funkekeme Solomon as assisted by the Functioning Permanent Secretary SERVICOM Mrs Uche Onwunsanya to the council chairmen as well as their investiture as the Chief SERVICOM officer in their domains.
