The Deputy Governor of Bayelsa State, Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, has passed away after collapsing unexpectedly in his office, according to family sources.
The incident happened at about 1:30 p.m. inside the Government House, Yenagoa, triggering an urgent medical response.
Witnesses said he looked critically ill as he was rushed to the Federal Medical Centre (FMC) in Yenagoa, where doctors confirmed his death shortly after he arrived.
People close to the late deputy governor hinted that the collapse might have been connected to stress from his heavy workload. Although an official cause of death has not yet been announced, several reports suggest it could be tied to a cardiac issue.
Security operatives have since secured the hospital area, limiting access as senior government officials arrive to pay their respects.
No formal government statement had been released as of the time this report was filed.
