An atmosphere of fear and anxiety has gripped the historic town of Kwale in Delta State following unconfirmed reports that bandits allegedly attacked Girls’ Secondary School, Utagba-Ogbe, and Uta-Ogbe Technical College earlier this morning, Monday, November 24.
While authorities had not verified the reports as of 11:00 a.m., sources indicated that students at both schools reportedly fled in panic upon hearing gunshots. Eyewitnesses described scenes of chaos as students scrambled to find safety, heightening concerns among parents and residents.
The Pioneer Niger Delta Online Newspaper also learned that other institutions in the Kwale area including Delta State School of Marine Technology, Kwale, and Novena University, Ogume have immediately strengthened security measures to prevent any potential attacks. This includes increased vigilance by security personnel and monitoring of school premises to ensure the safety of students and staff.
As the news spread, parents were seen rushing to the schools to collect their children, fearing for their safety. Local residents expressed concern over the rising insecurity in the area and called for urgent intervention from law enforcement agencies to protect students and restore calm.
