Supreme Court dismisses Omo-Agege’s appeal to overturn Oborevwori’s election victory

The Supreme Court on Friday dismissed appeal by Sen. Ovie Omo-Agege seeking to overturn the election victory of Sheriff Oborevwori as governor of Delta State.

The apex court holds that the appellant is unable to prove his case of over-voting and noncompliance with the electoral laws. The justices are giving summary judgment for want of time, as there are other states’ appeals to be ruled upon.

The justices are now set to deliver judgment in that of the Social Democratic Party (PDP) Vs People Democratic Party (PDP) in Delta, as well as the Labour Party (LP) and the PDP still in Delta.

Again, the apex court has also dismissed the appeal of the SDP candidate against Governor Oborevwori. The panel of five justices dismiss the appeal for lack of merit. It is a unanimous decision, and no cost is awarded. The three political parties namely APC, SDP, and LP, and the candidates are all contesting the declaration of Sheriff Oborevwori as the elected Governor of Delta State.
