Taskforce Formed to Address Key Issues in Aniocha South

The Executive Chairman of Aniocha South Local Government Area, Hon. Pastor Jude Chukwunwike, inaugurated an ad-hoc taskforce on Friday, June 13, 2025, to oversee vital areas such as environmental sanitation, traffic management, traditional medical practices, and other issues impacting the socio-economic landscape of the council.

The inauguration ceremony, held at the Executive Chairman’s Lodge in Ogwashi-Uku, represented a crucial advancement for improving the safety, cleanliness, and quality of life in Aniocha South.

Members of the taskforce were thoughtfully chosen from the three main clans of the local government—Ogwashi-Uku, Ubulu, and Nsukwa—ensuring inclusivity and a wide representation.

During his inaugural speech, Hon. Chukwunwike urged the taskforce members to view their roles as a commitment to selfless service rather than a means for personal gain. He emphasized the importance of adhering to the law, maintaining dignity, and serving with integrity.

“You must be diligent, law-abiding, and avoid any form of misconduct or behavior that could disrupt public peace and undermine the goals of this initiative,” the chairman stated.

“Keep in mind that your actions—whether praiseworthy or not—will reflect not just on you, but on the name of this council. Perform your duties with professionalism and a strong sense of responsibility.”

Hon. Chukwunwike highlighted that the taskforce is tasked with tackling urgent issues such as the rise of illegal structures, environmental threats, traffic congestion, illegal parking, and unregulated traditional medical practices that endanger public health and safety.

He pointed out the pressing concern regarding scavengers and unlicensed practitioners, advocating for immediate regulation and community cooperation.

He called upon residents to support this initiative through compliance and civic duty, emphasizing that creating a safer, cleaner, and more organized Aniocha South is a shared objective.

“We must collaborate to establish a cleaner, safer, and more livable environment for all residents and future generations,” he remarked.

On behalf of the taskforce, Mr. Francis Mogekwu, appointed as the committee’s Chairman, expressed appreciation to the council chairman for the confidence placed in them.

The establishment of this multi-sectoral taskforce has received widespread praise as a bold and progressive initiative. Stakeholders across the council have commended Hon. Chukwunwike for his proactive leadership, which continues to foster a positive environment for grassroots governance in Delta State.

As the taskforce commences its activities, there are high expectations that their initiatives will herald a new phase of discipline, order, and sustainable development in Aniocha South.

The vice chairman, Hon. Patricia Ekwutozam Adolue, leaders from the seventh legislative assembly, Hon. Leonard Nzemeke, councilors, supervisors, and government officials were all present at the ceremony.
