Popular Nollywood actress and philanthropist Tonto Dikeh has generated widespread attention after delivering an emotional testimony at Streams of Joy International Church, home of the popular NSPPD prayer movement led by Pastor Jerry Eze.
Speaking during a church service that was livestreamed and later shared widely online, the Rivers State–born actress opened up about her personal battles and what she described as a powerful and lasting spiritual change. Her heartfelt message, delivered before a large congregation, has since gone viral on social media.
Tonto disclosed that she started smoking at the age of 13, recalling that she was known as a “chimney” at the time. She explained that the habit continued into her adult years until she experienced what she called a total deliverance—one that made her feel ashamed of her former addiction. She emphasized that the transformation happened suddenly, not gradually.
She also revealed that she had been delivered from masturbation and disturbing sexual experiences in her dreams, saying these struggles had plagued her for many years. In addition, the actress admitted to battling alcoholism in the past, noting that she could drink as much as two bottles of whiskey or vodka in a single day.
Beyond substance-related issues, Tonto spoke about what she described as an intense, uncontrollable anger that once dominated her emotions. According to her, she now enjoys a level of inner peace she had never experienced before—peace she attributes entirely to her renewed relationship with God.
Reflecting on her spiritual journey, Tonto clarified that this was not the first time she had given her life to Christ. However, she stressed that this experience was different, explaining that she now fully understands the covenant she has entered into with God and believes it is for life.
Her testimony has sparked strong reactions online, with many praising her courage, honesty, and vulnerability. Others described the moment as one of the most genuine and heartfelt public confessions the actress has ever made.
