Traditional Ruler calls for unity

The Ovie of Udu Kingdom, Okporua I, has urged the people of Udu to unite and support ongoing efforts to reposition the area for meaningful development.

‎He made the call in Ovwian during his royal visit to the Ovwian Ruling House, which comprises Ovwian, Ekete and Owhase communities.

‎The Ovie of Udu Kingdom, Okporua the first was ushered to Ovwian community on his royal visit to Ovwian ruling house with canons and dances.

‎Addressing the people of Ovwian ruling house comprising Ovwian, Ekete and Owhase communities, the Udu Monarch thanked them for support towards ascending the revered Udu throne.

‎Okporua the first acknowledged the strategic and pioneering importance of the human and natural resources of Ovwian community to the Udu Kingdom.

‎He noted that the larger Udu locality is blessed with resource for blue economy, high quantum of crude oil and co-host to the biggest gas plant in sub-Sahara Africa, Utorogu Gas Plant and great sons and daughters.

‎ Okporua the first assured that under his reign, Udu Kingdom will be greater as he recently distributed free drugs to all health centres in the kingdom, rehabilitation of failed portions of roads in the domain and inauguration of education trust fund for Udu students.

‎The Udu Traditional Ruler emphasized that to achieve the vision of making Udu greater requires unity and peaceful atmosphere admonishing parents and leaders to discourage their children against cultism, political thuggery, internet fraud amongst other social vices.


‎The Chairman of the Ovwian ruling house, Chief Steve Sokoh and another leader of the House, Chief Henry Sakpra described the royal visit as epoch making and harbinger of better Udu Kingdom.

‎Also speaking at the event, the  Secretary of the Ovwian ruling house, Chief Lawson Agberia and the President of Ekete Community, Chief Johnbull Asun, the royal counsel will galvanize the kingdom to greater heights.

‎The Ovie of Udu Kingdom was accompanied on the royal visit by some prominent Udu chiefs including Chief Eddie Ono-Sorhue, Chief Solomon Kpomah, Chief Godwin Onotoma, Chief Robert Balance and Engineer Neyin
