Warri–Itakpe Train Service Resumes January 28

Passengers on the Warri–Itakpe Train Service (WITS), operated by the Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC), will be able to resume travel this week, according to an announcement from the Customer Service Unit.

In a notice sent to passengers, the management apologized for the delay in restarting operations and thanked customers for their patience throughout the suspension period.

The message opened with a warm greeting, expressing hope that passengers had a pleasant January and were doing well. It went on to acknowledge the inconvenience caused by the delayed resumption, noting that the service had missed its passengers and deeply appreciated their understanding.

According to the announcement, train services will officially resume on Wednesday, January 28, 2026. The train is scheduled to depart from Ujevwu Station at 8:00 a.m. and arrive at Itakpe Station the same day.

Details for the return trip were also provided. On Thursday, January 29, 2026, the train will depart Itakpe Station at 12:00 noon and head back to Ujevwu Station, after which normal operations will continue.

Passengers were also informed that ticket sales would begin ahead of the resumption, as the e-ticket booking platform would be opened by midnight, allowing customers to start making reservations.

The notice ended with words of appreciation, thanking passengers for their time, patience, and continued support, and expressing excitement about welcoming them back on board.
