Udu Council Workers Directed to Resume Duties

The Udu Local Government Chapter of the Nigerian Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE) has directed all staff of the council to resume full duties on Monday, after the New Year break.

In a statement by the chapter Chairman, Comrade Mathew Aghoghophia Emuejevwe, congratulated workers for witnessing the New Year and commended the Executive Chairman of Udu Local Government Area, Olorogun (Hon.) Vincent Ogheneruemu Oyibode, JP, FCIA, for approving an extended holiday from December 19, 2025, to January 4, 2026.

Emuejevwe described the gesture as a reflection of Oyibode’s magnanimity and people-oriented leadership, urging workers to reciprocate by demonstrating punctuality and dedication.

“All staff are expected to report at their duty posts by 8:00 a.m. prompt. Punctuality and commitment are essential for effective service delivery at the grassroots,” he said.

The NULGE chairman charged employees to redouble their efforts in the New Year by fully supporting the council’s policies and programmes, which he hailed as development-driven and focused on the welfare of the people.

He expressed optimism that 2026 would bring greater productivity, harmony, and progress to the local government, while extending New Year wishes for prosperity to all workers.

The union leadership reaffirmed its commitment to partnering with the Oyibode administration to advance workers’ welfare, maintain industrial peace, and drive sustainable development across Udu Local Government Area.
