Ugbajo Itsekiri USA, Inc. has wrapped up a free two-day preventive health awareness and screening programme held at the Olu Palace Field in Warri, reaffirming its dedication to community welfare and long-term public health promotion.
The outreach, themed “Working Together to Build Healthier Communities,” welcomed residents of all ages and emphasized the importance of early detection and health education.
With the support of Ugbajo USA members and its President, Dr. Mejebi Mayor, the event offered diabetes awareness sessions, blood pressure checks, eye examinations, and other basic health screenings. Participants also received professional health advice, stress-management tips, and referrals for further medical care where necessary.
Commenting on the outcome of the exercise, Nurse Oghomienor Sophia Oritsemofe said that the programme attracted a large turnout, describing it as a timely intervention given the everyday pressures many Nigerians face. She explained that beyond medical checks, attendees were educated on healthy lifestyle choices and ways to manage stress to reduce the risk of preventable illnesses, with referrals provided for those needing additional treatment.
Organisers noted that the biannual outreach forms part of Ugbajo Itsekiri USA’s broader social responsibility drive, aimed at giving back to society and expanding access to basic healthcare, especially for underprivileged residents. They reaffirmed the organisation’s commitment to working closely with communities to encourage healthier living and promote lasting well-being.
