The Ughelli North Local Government Council as well carried out sanitation exercise aimed at eradicating filthy surroundings and promoting a healthier environment as directed by the Delta state government.
During the Exercise, Tippers by PSP were on ground to evacuate refuse to approved dumpsites in Ughelli town and it’s environs.
Chairman, of Ughelli North Local Government Olorogun Jaro Egbo, represented by His Vice, Chief Meg Atano, stated that the council successfully conducted sanitation activities in several strategic areas.
The exercise held in Ughelli Main Market, Otovwodo Market, major streets, schools, and other identified locations in need of cleaning.
Olorogun Egbo noted that the active participation of youths across the communities contributed greatly to the success of the exercise, as they focused on clearing sensitive areas to ensure improved environmental hygiene and a more conducive atmosphere.
He reaffirmed the council’s commitment to supporting Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s “More Agenda”, particularly as it relates to strengthening the health sector and ensuring that residents enjoy the dividends of democracy.
While commending the collective efforts of various unions, youth groups, security agencies, community members, and the media for contributing to the credibility and success of the exercise.
The Head of the Environmental Department, Mrs. Victory Ikpibako, also expressed satisfaction with the level of compliance and participation witnessed during the sanitation exercise.
The exercise was supervised by the Vice Chairman and supported by the Leader of the House, Hon. Prosper Ajero, councilors, the Supervisor for Environment Comrade. Lucky Oborayiruvwe, departmental supervisors, principal officers of the council, staff members, and other stakeholders.
