Ujevwu community in Udu local government area, Delta state, has urged Governor Sheriff Oborevwori and other key stakeholders to assist in developing the education sector in the area.
Secretary General of the community, Mr Ovuomarhoma Ejovwo said the community was backward in the area of education, adding that since he was also made Chairman of the Education committee he had been campaigning for government and stakeholders support to grow the educational sector of the area.
He said they have an education committee task force ensuring that parents send their children and wards to school.
”The Ujevwu Education Committee task force is in full operation to combat the issue of lateness to school, children’s indiscipline in school. Though in some cases our personnel do receive embarrassment from mothers who support the excesses of their children.
“Since my assumption as the chairman, we have created a total of 84 scholarships across primary and secondary schools, we help in enrolling more than 36 pupils in the last cognitive placement examination, BECE.
“We cannot do much without the support of stakeholders and we are using this opportunity to plead for more support from our amiable governor RT. Hon Sheriff Oborevwori to come to assist our programs, because his continuous support for infrastructural development, quality healthcare, agriculture, education and other key sectors of the state economy through the ongoing implementation of his MORE Agenda is an indication that he will support the mandate of Ujevwu Education Committee to make effective progress.
”We also call on our brothers Hon. Chief Peter Uviejitobor, Commissioner of Oil and Gas, Honourable chairman Udu LGA, Hon Chief Vincent Oyibode , Hon Oghenekaro Goru, Commissioner in Delta state oil Producing Areas Development Commission, DESOPADEC, Hon.
