Driven by his desire to uplift the Ukwuani people, Hon. Barr. C.S. Possible Ajede has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to boosting agricultural production, with a strong focus on palm plantations, piggery, and poultry farming.
As part of this initiative, the Executive Chairman visited several existing poultry farms in Obiaruku, including Ned General Farms along Upper Amai Road and Gboka Poultry Farms in the Ghana Quarters area. The purpose of the tour was to assess the current level of farm production in Ukwuani and identify areas where the council can provide financial support.
Speaking during the visit, Barr. Ajede explained that the exercise aligns with his “Do More Agenda,” aimed at strengthening local agriculture. He noted that the council also plans to collaborate with experienced livestock farmers to train new poultry and piggery farmers. This, he said, would help reduce the risk of high mortality rates often caused by inexperience.
He further revealed that under the INEC scheme, the training program will include ten participants from each ward, specifically for poultry farming.
In response, the Agriculture Department—led by the Supervisor for Agriculture, Mr. Jeffery Opone, and the Head of Department, Mr. Abel Odigili—expressed their appreciation to the Chairman for his ongoing developmental efforts and his commitment to investing in the agricultural sector. They also assured him of their full support in achieving these goals.
