Ukwuani LGA Launches Free Digital Skills Training for 200 Residents

The Ukwuani Local Government Council in Delta State has launched registration for a free digital skills training and empowerment programme aimed at 200 indigenes and residents.

Open to people of all ages, the initiative is designed to equip participants with practical digital and entrepreneurial skills needed to improve productivity, boost job opportunities, and encourage self-reliance in today’s tech-driven world.

According to the council, interested individuals can pick up application forms at the Office of the Secretary to the Local Government, located within the council secretariat.

The registrationis set to begin on Monday, March 30, 2026, and will close on Friday, April 10, 2026.

The programme will cover a variety of high-demand and hands-on courses, including mobile phone repair (both hardware and software), computer hardware and networking, ICT and general digital skills, software and web development, as well as emerging technologies like artificial intelligence.

In addition, participants will receive training in entrepreneurship, business development, and financial literacy to help them not only gain technical skills but also build sustainable businesses and achieve financial independence.

The council also noted that trainees will gain practical experience in areas such as web development, UI/UX fundamentals, graphic design, content creation, and video editing, along with basic knowledge of how AI can be applied in business and everyday productivity.

Beyond the free training, outstanding participants will be rewarded with incentives such as laptops and startup tools, while all trainees will benefit from internship and mentorship opportunities. Certificates will also be awarded upon successful completion of the programme.

Speaking on the initiative, the Executive Chairman of Ukwuani Local Government, Possible Ajede, said the programme highlights the council’s commitment to empowering young people and building local capacity. He added that it is part of broader efforts to reduce unemployment and promote economic growth at the grassroots level.

The training will take place at the Ukwuani Local Government ICT Centre within the council secretariat. Residents who need more information are encouraged to contact the council through the provided phone line.
