UNIDEL Undergoes Major Transformation as Oborevwori’s Administration Drives Academic and Infrastructure Growth

The University of Delta (UNIDEL), Agbor, is witnessing an unprecedented wave of academic and infrastructural development, underscoring Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s sustained investment in higher education under his MORE Agenda.

During a recent working visit to the institution on Friday, the Delta State Commissioner for Higher Education, Prof. Nyerhovwo Tonukari, expressed satisfaction with the remarkable progress achieved across key construction sites.

The inspection tour covered several landmark projects, including the Faculty of Management and Social Sciences building, the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery complex, and a 1,500-seat ultra-modern auditorium designed to host large academic and social gatherings.

Prof. Tonukari lauded the pace, quality, and architectural standards of the ongoing projects, describing them as pivotal to UNIDEL’s vision of becoming a world-class citadel of learning. He emphasized that the developments reflect Governor Oborevwori’s unwavering commitment to expanding access to quality education and creating modern learning environments across Delta State’s tertiary institutions.

“The Governor’s visionary leadership and consistent funding support have made it possible for UNIDEL to achieve in a few years what many universities take decades to build,” Tonukari stated. He noted that the university’s growth trajectory is setting new benchmarks for academic infrastructure and faculty development in Nigeria’s public university system.

He further reaffirmed the state government’s determination to sustain its investments in the education sector, citing the integration of innovation-driven programs, digital learning resources, and modern facilities as part of efforts to equip students with skills relevant to today’s global economy.
Stakeholders, staff, and students commended the government for its dedication to academic excellence and institutional sustainability, describing UNIDEL’s transformation as a model for higher education reform in the South-South region.
