Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, will on Monday, January 19, 2026, perform the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of the Uromi Junction flyover in Agbor, Ika South Local Government Area.
The event, scheduled to hold at 11:00 a.m. prompt, follows the recent groundbreaking of the Otovwodo Junction flyover in Ughelli and signals the administration’s sustained drive to tackle traffic bottlenecks, enhance road safety, and modernise infrastructure across the state.
The Uromi Junction flyover, awarded to construction giant Julius Berger Nigeria Plc, is among the new projects approved by the State Executive Council. Preliminary construction works have already commenced at the site.
This development comes shortly after the near-completion of three major flyovers in the Effurun-Warri axis at PTI Junction, DSC Roundabout, and Enerhen Junction, also handled by Julius Berger.
The Uromi Junction, a notorious traffic choke point along the busy Benin-Asaba highway, has long plagued commuters, traders, and residents with gridlocks, accidents, and economic losses.
The flyover is expected to ease congestion, improve mobility, boost commercial activities in Agbor and surrounding communities, including links to neighbouring areas like Igbanke.
Governor Oborevwori’s MORE Agenda—focused on Meaningful development, Opportunities for all, Realistic reforms, and Enhanced peace and security—continues to prioritise equitable infrastructure delivery from rural communities to urban centres.
The administration has emphasised that governance must serve the people, ensuring no segment of society is left behind. Through strategic projects like these flyovers, the state is fostering resilience, creating job opportunities, and stimulating economic growth across Delta.
The flag-off underscores Oborevwori’s commitment to prudent resource management, timely project execution, and visible transformation that directly impacts residents’ daily lives.
