Uvwie Local Government Area of Delta State has inaugurated a taskforce saddled with the responsibility of ensuring the “cleanliness and environmental beauty” of communities in the council area.
The task force is also “to stem road obstruction occasioned by motorists who park their vehicles indiscriminately and traders displaying their wares close to the roads, thus obstructing the free flow of traffic.”
This was contained in a public notice jointly signed by the local government chairman, Chief Anthony Ofoni and the council’s Supervisor in charge of Environment, Prince Moses Mugidi, copies of which were made available to journalists in Warri on Monday.
The statement noted that “with effect from September 1, 2024, the task force will commence full enforcement operation without any further warning.
“This implies that offender vehicles and wares will face seizures.”
It listed the areas paramount to the enforcement operation as comprising both sides of Effurun roundabout; Jakpa junction through to expressway; Ekpan roundabout; Refinery junction; Shaguolo area as well as Effurun market to PTI.
The notice sought the cooperation of members of the public with the task force teams in the enforcement of the mandates.
