Uvwie Residents Embrace Measles, Rubella Vaccination Campaign

The ongoing measles and rubella vaccination campaign in Uvwie Local Government Area of Delta State has been warmly embraced by residents.

The exercise, organized to protect children from measles and rubella, is being led by the Delta State Primary Healthcare Development Agency in collaboration with other partners and stakeholders. Health workers across Uvwie LGA are actively participating in the campaign, which runs from February 4 to 12, 2026.

Speaking on the turnout, Mr. Gabriel Gbagbara, Assistant Coaching Officer of the Uvwie Local Government Health Department, described the response as encouraging, noting that many parents have brought their children to be vaccinated. During the campaign period, health workers are moving through communities, schools, markets, churches, and other locations to reach children between the ages of 0 and 14.

Mrs. Okwukei, whose daughter received the vaccine, urged other parents to take advantage of the opportunity and ensure their children are immunized to help curb the spread of the diseases.
