Vice Chancellor of Delta State University, Abraka, Professor Samuel Ogheneovo Asagba, says his administration has zero tolerance for corruption as it has set up a Revenue Monitoring Committee and a Direct Labour Facilities Committee to prevent financial leakages and reduce construction costs.
Professor Asagba who made this known at Abraka while briefing newsmen on the activities of the university for the past one year , revealed that other major reforms had been undertaken to foster academic and administrative efficiency, and enhance the university’s public profile within the last one year .
He said the university had established new centres to generate revenue through agriculture, foster innovation, and enhance the institution’s public profile, including the Centre for Farm Management and Agricultural Extension, and the Centre for National Defence and Partnerships, and the Centre for Product Development and Research.
The Delta State University, Abraka, Vice Chancellor highlighted the achievements recorded in ICT infrastructure to include the development of an advanced digital platform for exam processing, student records, and certificate issuance, online screening for new students, installation of fibre-optic internet services, and recruitment of skilled programmers to maintain and improve systems.
He explained that the digital innovations had minimized errors in conduct of examinations, improved operational efficiency, and made essential services more accessible for students and staff.
Professor Asagba hinted that his mission was to transform DELSU through high quality education, sustainable development, strong governance, innovation, and inclusive stakeholder engagement, and make the institution as a leading university known for academic excellence, impactful research, and global competitiveness.
