VREI and Partners Launch Training in Warri to Engage Men in the Fight Against Gender-Based Violence

A major campaign to combat gender-based violence (GBV) is gaining traction in Warri as the Value Rebirth and Empowerment Initiative (VREI), in partnership with the African Centre for Leadership, Strategy and Development (Centre LSD) and with support from the Ford Foundation, announces a Training of Trainers (ToT) workshop under the Male Feminist Network (MFN) project.

The workshop will be held at Casa De Pedro Hotel in Warri, Delta State, with participants arriving on Thursday, November 6, 2025. Training sessions will run through Friday and Saturday, November 7–8, 2025, with departures scheduled afterward.

According to the organisers, participants nominated by VREI will gain hands-on tools and strategies to prevent GBV, promote feminist values, and champion gender justice grounded in fairness, equality, and the rule of law within their communities.

VREI noted that the training will focus on engaging men as key advocates in the fight against GBV—equipping them to recognize early warning signs, calm potentially violent situations, offer proper referrals for survivors, and promote accountability at the community level.

Those who complete the training will go on to conduct “step-down” sessions with groups of men across their communities, institutions, and networks, helping to expand the reach of the Male Feminist Network throughout the South-South region and strengthen grassroots advocacy against gender-based violence.
