Ward delineation: Okporoko urges ethnic groups in Warri to prevent another crisis

The people of Ijaw, Urhobo and Itsekiri in Warri Federal Constituency, Delta State, have been advised not to allow the fresh Ward delineation to cause another ethnic crisis in Warri.

This advise was given on Monday, by Ambassador (Chief) Godwin Okporoko, Executive Assistant, Security Matters To Delta State Governor, while reacting to the burning down of Akpata community in Gbaramatu Kingdom on Sunday.

Okporoko said, “It has become imperative that I appeal to the good people of Ijaw, Urhobo and Itsekiri in Warri Federal Constituency Delta State, to prevent another ethnic crisis in Warri. The past ethnic crisis in Warri, took lives, wasted souls, properties destroyed, and eventually grounded the socio-economic activities in the oil city, forcing companies to relocate from Warri to neighboring States”

Okporoko warned against dragging Chief Government Ekpemupolo alias Tompolo and Tantita Security Services Limited into the Ward delineation controversy.

He continued, “Unfortunately, the irreparable damage caused by the previous Warri crisis should not be allowed to re-occur. Dialogue is key. The Independent National Electoral Commission INEC, enforcing or implementing the Supreme Court judgement or order for fresh delineation, has concluded the fresh Ward delineation and the results presented by INEC to stakeholders. It is expected that the Ijaws, Urhobo and Itsekiri in Warri Federal Constituency would adopt dialogue and negotiation going forward as neighbours”

“The need for dialogue is important because the Ijaws, Urhobo and Itsekiri in Warri Federal Constituency would still continue to co-exist, intermarry and do business together. Commendably, His Excellency, Governor Sheriff Oborevwori is constructing flyovers, roads and drainages including installation of Solar Street Lights in Effurun and Warri metropolis. The Governor is restoring the lost glory of Warri and investors are indicating return to do business in Warri, and invest in Delta State”

“The fresh Ward delineation in Warri Federal Constituency should not cause disagreement or dispute amongst Ijaws, Urhobo and Itsekiri. The leaders must shun anything that will ignite unrest that could possibly obstruct the ongoing projects being executed and peace building efforts of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori”

“Tompolo and Tantita Security Services Limited are doing their job diligently and securing critical Federal Government assets and oil facilities, which has increased the Country’s revenue from Crude oil. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited NNPCL attested to the good work being done by Tompolo and Tantita Security Services Limited.”

“Interestingly, Tompolo and Tantita Security Services Limited employed Coordinators and thousands of youths in Ijaw, Urhobo, Itsekiri, Isoko and Ndokwa communities that are securing Federal government oil assets and fighting oil thieves”
