Warri Wolves Football Club, which just got promoted to the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL), won their first game away from home this season on Sunday. They beat Katsina United 1-0 at the Mohammadu Dikko Stadium.
The goal that won the game was scored by forward Igbunu Evwierhurhoma in the 76th minute.
This win helped the team get three important points and showed how hard they fought in a closely matched game.
Hon. Onoriode Oborevwori, chairman of the Delta State Sports Commission, praised the players and coaches for their strong effort and spirit.
He said the team’s success is thanks to the support from Governor Sheriff Oborevwori.He mentioned that the governor’s continued support for sports in Delta State has played a big role in the team’s achievements.
“This victory is a sign of the governor’s support for sports and the teamwork and hard work of our players. Warri Wolves are back in the top league and this result shows they are serious about doing well,” Oborevwori said.
This win is a big deal for the club, which recently returned to the NPFL.
Their next match is against Enugu Rangers, which will take place at the Southern Delta University Stadium in Ozoro on August 31. Many fans are expected to come and support the team.
