Warri Wolves Extend Strong NPFL Form With 2–0 Win Over Bayelsa United

Warri Wolves FC continued their impressive run in the 2025 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season with a commanding 2–0 victory over Bayelsa United on Sunday, October 26, 2025, at the Delta State Polytechnic Stadium in Ozoro.

The win further reinforces the newly promoted side’s growing reputation as one of the league’s most disciplined and dynamic teams.

The afternoon belonged to forward Igbunu Evwierhurhoma, who scored both goals for the Seasiders. His first came midway through the first half following a swift team build-up that carved open the Bayelsa United defence.

He struck again early in the second half, pouncing on a defensive error to double the lead and effectively seal the match. His relentless pressing and finishing have drawn admiration from supporters, with fans joking that “this guy dey hustle for goals like house rent don near.”

Bayelsa United struggled to respond, finding difficulty in sustaining possession and failing to trouble Warri Wolves’ goalkeeper, Michael Ogolo, who enjoyed a largely quiet afternoon between the posts.

However, the highlight of the day extended beyond the final whistle. The stadium erupted into full-blown post-match celebrations, with supporters storming the pitch, dancing, chanting, and waving club colours.

Among them was the now-famous “Super Fan Machala and crew,” a group of die-hard supporters whose high-energy chants and shirtless, drum-driven performances have become synonymous with Warri Wolves’ matchday culture. Their enthusiasm reflects the raw, communal passion that defines grassroots football in Nigeria.

One fan summed up the atmosphere in Pidgin English: “Miss Warri Wolves match ke? Never. Water full everywhere!”
meaning the stadium remains packed and electrifying, no matter the distance or cost of travel.

The victory keeps Warri Wolves firmly within the top five positions on the NPFL table, strengthening their momentum and signaling that their promotion to the top flight is no fluke.
