Warri Wolves Hold Niger Tornadoes to a Gritty Draw in Minna

Niger Tornadoes and Warri Wolves played out a scoreless draw at the Bako Kontagora Stadium on Sunday. Despite heavy pressure from the home side, the “Seasiders” from Warri stood firm to secure a valuable point on the road.

The match began with Niger Tornadoes pushing forward immediately. In the 5th minute, Chibueze drove into the box and fired a shot, but it flew wide of the target. Shortly after, Sunday Akinmoladun met a dangerous corner from Dabai, but his header missed the mark.

Tornadoes continued to dominate the early proceedings. Their best chance of the first half came in the 23rd minute. Bashir Usman unleashed a powerful strike, but the Warri Wolves goalkeeper, Vincent Edafe, made a brilliant save to parry the ball away. Both teams went into the halftime break with the score tied at 0–0.

After the interval, the home team intensified their search for a breakthrough. The Tornadoes coaching staff made a triple substitution in the 53rd minute. They introduced Rickson Mendos, Ahmadu Liman, and Kufre Ebong to add fresh energy to the attack.

However, the visitors remained resilient. By the 65th minute, Warri Wolves were defending frantically to keep the score level. Tornadoes earned several back-to-back corner kicks in the 71st minute, yet they could not find a way past the stubborn Wolves defense.

As the clock ticked toward the final whistle, the game became more physical. In the 83rd minute, Wolves goalkeeper Vincent Edafe required medical attention after a collision, causing a brief pause in play.

In an attempt to clinch a late winner, both sides made final tactical changes. Warri Wolves brought on Joseph Godfrey and Ismaila Sarki. Despite three minutes of added time and constant pressure from the Tornadoes, the visitors successfully cleared every threat.

The final whistle confirmed a 0–0 stalemate, leaving the home fans frustrated. While Niger Tornadoes will regret their missed opportunities, Warri Wolves will celebrate a disciplined defensive performance. This result highlights the competitive nature of the league, as teams fight for every point in the mid-season standings.
