‎Windows 10 is in Its Last Days – Microsoft Warns

Today, Microsoft issued another alert that Windows 10 22H2 will reach its end of service on October 14, in case any administrators are not aware. The latest announcement regarding this matter is the 30-day notice, which clearly indicates that Microsoft has no plans to reverse its decision to cease support.

‎This is despite the significant number of Windows 10 devices that are not eligible for Windows 11 due to the stringent hardware compatibility requirements. Some estimates suggest that this number is around 400 million PCs.

‎Microsoft’s warning specifically targets users of Windows 10 22H2 who are running the Home, Pro, Enterprise, and IoT Enterprise versions of the operating system. “October 14, 2025, will also signify the end of support for Windows 10 2015 LTSB and Windows 10 IoT Enterprise LTSB 2015,” the company stated.

‎However, this does not mean that all versions of Windows 10 are at their end. For instance, users of Windows 10 Enterprise LTSC 2019 have until January 9, 2029, before their extended support expires. Windows 10 IoT Enterprise LTSC 2021 remains in mainstream support, with extended support concluding on January 13, 2032.

‎Why the LTSC and LTSB terminology? Microsoft prefers that customers use the term “Long Term Servicing Channel” (LTSC), but the LTSB naming convention still appears in some of the company’s documentation.

‎Transitioning to an LTSC edition of Windows 10 is a completely valid option for those who wish to continue using the operating system without opting for Extended Security Updates (ESUs).

‎Personal users of Windows 10 also have the opportunity to receive a year of free ESUs if they are willing to navigate Microsoft’s requirements, which include using Windows Backup to sync settings to the cloud or redeeming 1,000 Microsoft Reward points. Alternatively, users can pay $30 for a year of updates.

‎Otherwise, the end is drawing near. While a device will not abruptly stop functioning when Microsoft halts updates, the company emphasizes:

‎”The October 2025 monthly security update will be the final update accessible for these versions. Devices using these versions will no longer receive monthly security and preview updates that guard against the most recent security threats after this date.
