Youth Organization Donates Educational Supplies to Children in Okuama Community

Since the invasion of Okuama community on March 14, 2024, school children in both Okuama Primary and Secondary schools have been at home missing nearly two academic sessions. The Okuama Primary and Secondary schools were destroyed.

However, the Chairman of Ughelli South Local Government, Dr Lucky Avweromre, has embarked on construction of classrooms to enable the young learners resume academic activities for the 2025/2026 session.

To complement the efforts of Dr Avweromre, Ewu Urhobo Youth Association donated educational materials to the children of the Okuama community. The presence of the youths drew excitement from the people and Children of the Okuama Community.

Speaking during the presentation of the writing materials, the President of the Ewu-urhobo Youth Association, Comrade Emmanuel Erhiegueke expressed pain and sympathy over the plight of the community.

He stressed that since school will be resuming they had to look for a way to present the materials to the children for them to begin the academic year without stress.

Comrade Erhiegueke added that the youths of Ewu Urhobo would ensure that education begins in Okuama soonest.

The Deputy Leader, Ughelli South Legislative Arm, Honourable Andrew Eti appreciated the Governor for the projects in Okuama which include the Primary School built by the Governor and the Secondary School.

He also appreciated the Council Chairman for the Healthcare Centre that has been completed awaiting Commissioning and the town hall to accommodate the Okuama people temporarily which is near completion.

Honourable Eti also appreciated the Executive of the Youth Body for the donation of the writing materials and urged other good spirited individuals to emulate them.

The Secretary General of the Ewu-urhobo Youth Association, Comrade Oghoroko Ovigue Julius also appealed to the Federal and Delta State Governments for the release of the Okuama leaders that have been in detention for the past one year.

Receiving the items, the Supervisor for Education and Youth Development in Ughelli South, Mr. Joseph Okenabirhie and the Chairman of the Okuama Community, Mr. Vote Johnwaiker appreciated the Ewu Urhobo Youth Body and prayed to God to bless them.

They encouraged them to continue the good work as the Government cannot do it alone.
