Yuletide: Delta Traditional Rulers Council task security agents

The Delta State Traditional Rulers Council, DSTRC, has tasked Security Agencies to beef up security across the state to ensure the safety of lives and property of Deltans during and after the yuletide season. The Chairman of the Council and Orodje of Okpe Kingdom, Rtd Major General Felix Mujakpuero, Orhue 1, gave the charge in a communiqué at the end of the meeting of the Council in Asaba.

The Council decried “the upsurge in herders’ attacks and kidnapping by persons suspected to be Fulani Herdsmen in various communities across Delta State.  We advise youths to conduct themselves responsibly and guard against acts inimical to peace and security during the Yuletide.”

They commended the “development efforts of Governor Sheriff Oborewvori particularly in promoting peace and advancing the development of infrastructure in rural communities across Delta State.”

In a five-point Communiqué, the Council congratulated all Traditional Rulers for their relentless efforts at promoting peace, Unity, and Oneness among Deltans and urgent to them not to relent.

The Delta Commissioner for Environment Jamani Tommy Ejiro briefed the Council members on the issue of indiscriminate dredging of rivers in parts of the State.The council advised that “strong action should be taken to stop the incessant and unprofessional ongoing dredging exercise across the state. The council prays for continued peace, progress, and development in the state before, during, and after the festivities up to the New Year.”

The meeting was attended by the first Vice Chairman of the Council and Pere of Akugbene Mien, S P Luke Kalanama V111, and Second Vice Chairman and Obi of Ubulu unor Agbogidi Henry Kikachukwu 1, among other Traditional Rulers from across Delta State.
