Abandoned Project: Delta Community notifies DESOPADEC MD, tables new request

Residents of Igbe Ogume Community in Ndokwa West LGA, Delta State, have written the Managing Director of Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission, DESOPADEC, notifying him of a two-wings three classroom blocks built by the Commission at Igbe Primary School, Ogume and abandoned at critical stage.

The project, which was constructed up-to roofing stage, with soak-away pit dug by the contractor, was approved in 2014.

In the letter dated May 27, 2025 and signed by the Chairman as well as Secretary of Igbe Ogume Community Development Committee, CDC, Alaska Ekele and Joseph Ngwei, respectively, the Community appealed to the DESOPADEC Boss, to “kindly revisit the project and it give it a face lift by completing it.”

They also requested for the construction of a 6-classrom block at Igbe Secondary School, Ogume.
