Amuokpokpor-Elume in Sapele LGA Appeals Government Intervention Over Abandoned Health Center

The Amuokpokpor-Elume community in Sapele Local Government Area of Delta State, have appealed to the State Government to prevail on the contractor in charge of the construction of a health center in the community to return to site.

The community informed newsmen that the construction of the health center which is almost completed has been abandoned for too long.

Speaking off camera some of the Indigenes narrated how they suffer health wise because of lack of medical facilities in Amuokpokpor- Elume community.

They urged the Sapele Local Government Chairman to also come to their aide in completing the health center to reduce their sufferings as many people had died from small ailments due to lack of health center facility.

The people of Amuokpokpor-Elume community also appealed to the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) to resume work on the collapsed road connecting the agrarian community to other parts of the council.

The chairman of the community Mr Daniel Ogbodo complained about the deplorable state of the road, loss of life, and paralysis of their economic activities.

He recounted how the project started in 2020 and alleged that the contractor used substandard materials to carry out the project, resulting in its outright failure after one year of completion.

Community elder Olu Majelele and Felix Emuobonuvie, President General of Elume District, urged NDDC to revisit the site and construct a good road, bemoaning the immense hardship resulting from the road’s deplorable condition.

They highlighted the challenges caused by the poor road conditions, including frequent falls and delayed vehicular movement.
