Hon. (Comrade) Warri Ovoke, Chairman of Isoko South Local Government, on Friday presented 100 chairs to Enhwe Comprehensive High School in Enwhe. The chairs were donated by Chief Michael Ogodo, an indigene of the community, to help address the shortage of classroom seating.
While handing over the furniture, the council chairman urged students to take proper care of the chairs and avoid damaging them. The donation follows recent social media reports highlighting the lack of desks and chairs, which had forced some students to sit on the bare floor during lessons.
Chief Ogodo has consistently supported the school over the years, sponsoring teachers in English and Mathematics and backing other educational initiatives aimed at improving learning conditions. Warri Ovoke commended Ogodo’s continued generosity, noting that his contributions have had a meaningful impact on the school despite his non-involvement in politics.
In his remarks, the school principal, Mr. Ilah Jonathan, expressed appreciation to the donor for promptly addressing the school’s needs. However, he also pointed out ongoing security challenges, including cases of theft and vandalism affecting school property.
The presentation ceremony was attended by the Local Government Secretary, Mr. Zino Osuofa; the Vice President-General of the Enhwe Clan Development Association, Prince Isaac Ohoror; and other community leaders.
