The Deputy President of the 9th Senate, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, has strongly condemned the gruesome killing of Chief Ese Idisi, the Acting Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ethiope East Local Government Area of Delta State.
In a statement released by his Media Adviser, Omo-Agege described the incident as a “barbaric act of violence” and a direct assault on democracy and the electoral process in Delta State.
He said: “I am shocked and deeply pained by the brutal murder of our Acting LGA Chairman in Ethiope East. This senseless violence once again highlights the growing insecurity and breakdown of law and order plaguing our state.
“I strongly condemn this wicked act and call on the Commissioner of Police in Delta State as well as the Inspector General of Police to thoroughly investigate this crime and ensure that those responsible are brought to justice. The individuals who had openly threatened to eliminate their political opponents in the area must be tracked down, prosecuted, and made to face the consequences of their actions.
“I want to emphasize that violence is not part of our culture in Delta APC. Our tradition is to win people over, one person at a time. Anyone attempting to introduce this destructive culture of violence into our party must stop immediately, because we will firmly resist it.”
He added that the party will not be intimidated or discouraged by acts of intimidation and lawlessness, stressing their commitment to building a peaceful and democratic society grounded in the rule of law.
Senator Omo-Agege extended his condolences to the family and friends of the late Chief Idisi, as well as the APC community in Ethiope East, assuring them that justice will prevail. He urged security agencies to urgently identify and arrest the culprits so they can face the full force of the law.
