The Delta State House of Assembly Committee on Housing and Urban Development has lauded the Ministry of Urban Renewal and Physical Planning for its “impressive and commendable” budget performance in the 2025 fiscal year.
Chairman of the Committee, Hon. Pereotu Oloye (Burutu II), gave the commendation at the Assembly Complex in Asaba when the Commissioner, Chief Michael Anoka, appeared with top officials to defend the ministry’s 2026 budget proposal.
“Based on verifiable records presented, the ministry has shown remarkable commitment to its mandate,” Oloye said, expressing confidence that increased 2026 allocations would yield greater results in line with Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s MORE Agenda for sustainable development and urban revitalisation.
However, the lawmaker frowned at minor discrepancies noticed in some documentation processes and directed immediate corrections to maintain transparency and accountability.
Responding, Chief Anoka assured the committee that the ministry had recorded significant milestones in 2025 and was ready to consolidate gains.
He disclosed plans to boost internally generated revenue through strengthened physical planning enforcement starting fully in 2026.

The Permanent Secretary and directors of the ministry provided technical details during the interactive session.
