Delta CP Commends Udu Council Chairman Over Ongoing Projects

Delta State Commissioner of Police, CP Aina Adesola, has hailed the Chairman of Udu Local Government Council, Olorogun Vincent Ogheneruemu Oyibode, for spearheading the construction of an ultra-modern Divisional Police Headquarters and police barracks in Otor-Udu.

Speaking during an inspection tour of the project site at the Udu Local Government Secretariat on Monday, February 23, 2026,  CP Adesola described the initiative as unprecedented in the state’s local government landscape.

“This project is quite unprecedented. I am truly shocked and impressed by the magnitude and quality of what I have seen here,” the Commissioner stated, underscoring that Udu would become a model for other councils in supporting security infrastructure.

In response, Chairman Oyibode expressed appreciation for the CP’s visit amid a demanding schedule and explained the rationale behind the initiative.

He noted that Udu LGA is currently the only one among Delta State’s 25 local government areas without a dedicated Divisional Police Headquarters.

“The absence of such a facility has long been a gap in our security architecture. This project will not only strengthen law enforcement but also drive economic activities in Otor-Udu,” Oyibode said.

The Chairman revealed that several commercial banks have expressed readiness to open branches in the council headquarters once the police complex is ready, attributing their interest directly to the anticipated improvement in security.

Olorogun Oyibode who reiterated his administration’s dedication to programmes that foster peace, safety, and overall development across Udu Local Government Area also raised concerns over the proliferation of police checkpoints along major roads in Udu.

He alleged that some officers manning these points who are not under the jurisdiction covering Udu claim to be operating on directives from the Delta State Commissioner of Police, causing hardship to motorists and residents.
