Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, on Thursday held talks in Abuja with the Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Arc. Ahmed Musa Dangiwa, as both sides explored ways to strengthen cooperation in housing delivery and urban development.
The meeting centered on building partnerships that will speed up the provision of affordable homes, enhance urban planning and expand infrastructure capable of improving living conditions across Delta State.
Officials said the discussions followed earlier collaborations between the state and the Federal Government, including the Renewed Hope housing programme, under which Warri has been identified as one of the priority locations.
Delta State has continued to position itself for stronger engagement with federal agencies and development partners, offering land and policy support for housing projects such as workers’ estates and mini-housing schemes. The state government believes closer collaboration will help narrow the housing gap, ease the pressure on rents and attract private sector investment into construction and related urban services.

Both parties agreed to maintain technical consultations to define project timelines, financing options and community-focused approaches that will ensure housing initiatives reflect local needs and realities.
The engagement, officials noted, highlights Delta State’s broader strategy of aligning federal programmes with its development priorities while promoting inclusive growth and sustainable urban development.
Further meetings are expected in the coming weeks to translate the discussions into actionable plans, with assurances that residents will be kept informed as specific projects and milestones are rolled out.
