Delta Government Disburses Financial Aid to 759 Law School Students

The Delta State Government has commenced the disbursement of financial assistance to 759 indigenes currently studying at the Nigerian Law School.

The initiative, executed through the Delta State Bursary and Scholarship Board, is part of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s MORE Agenda, which emphasizes Meaningful Development, Opportunities for All, Realistic Reforms, and Enhanced Peace and Security.

Officials say the programme is designed to empower young professionals, ease the financial weight of their academic journey, and strengthen the state’s future workforce.

Announcing the scheme in Asaba, the Executive Secretary of the Board, Dr. Godfrey Enita, explained that the shortlisted beneficiaries are graduates of the 2023/2024 session of the Nigerian Law School. He stressed that the state government remains committed to ensuring that financial barriers do not hinder Deltans from achieving their professional aspirations.

Dr. Enita directed beneficiaries to submit necessary documents between August 19 and September 2, 2025, either through the Board’s official email — dsbsb@deltastate.gov.ng — or via WhatsApp to 07037429816.
The required documents include:

Admission Letter

Call to Bar Certificate

Valid Identification Card

Local Government Identification Letter

He further advised beneficiaries to contact Mr. Otogie Godspower on 07037429816 for additional enquiries.

The scholarship initiative reflects a broader pattern in the Oborevwori administration’s policies, which have placed education and youth empowerment at the heart of governance. Beyond bursaries for law students, the government has consistently invested in tertiary institutions, infrastructure, and skill development programmes aimed at preparing Deltans for both local and global opportunities.

Analysts say this effort to support aspiring lawyers is particularly strategic, given the critical role of legal professionals in driving justice, governance, and business growth. By reducing the financial stress on law students, the state positions itself to produce more qualified lawyers who can contribute to the nation’s legal system and Delta’s socio-economic development.

Dr. Enita described the support as more than financial relief, calling it a deliberate investment in human capital.
“This gesture is not just financial relief; it is an investment in the future of Delta State. By empowering our young professionals today, we are securing a stronger, more prosperous tomorrow for our people,” he noted.

With the bursary now in motion, the Oborevwori-led government has once again reaffirmed its resolve to bridge educational gaps and uphold Delta’s reputation as a state that values knowledge, excellence, and empowerment.
