Delta State Government has once again demonstrated its growing reputation as a premier investment destination as Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, represented by his Deputy, Sir Monday Onyeme, on Tuesday performed the groundbreaking ceremony for the Cubana Millennium City in Asaba.
The state government positioned the landmark project as a direct testament to its sustained reforms, investor-friendly policies, and commitment to creating an enabling environment for private sector growth. Governor Oborevwori stated that the Cubana Millennium City is “a clear signal that Delta State is emerging as one of Nigeria’s most promising investment destinations,” stressing that the multi-billion-naira development reflects strong confidence in the stability and economic direction of his administration.
According to the Governor, the project’s strategic location off the Benin–Onitsha Highway will unlock significant commercial value for the state, establishing a thriving hub of hospitality, entertainment, commerce, and modern living. He added that the state government is fully committed to ensuring that Delta remains “the easiest place to invest, to build, and to grow.”
Oborevwori highlighted efforts by his administration in strengthening infrastructure, enhancing security, removing bureaucratic bottlenecks, and supporting genuine investors—initiatives that have continued to attract large-scale private developments such as the Cubana Millennium City.
“This project represents confidence—confidence in our economy, in our people, and in the opportunities Delta State offers investors globally. The economic and social returns will ripple across our state, boosting SMEs, expanding supply chains, and creating quality jobs for our youth,” the Governor said.
He reassured investors that the Delta State Government will continue to provide the stability, policy support, and infrastructure necessary for transformative projects to thrive, while commending traditional rulers and host communities for sustaining the peace that attracts investment.
The Governor extended appreciation to Dr. Obinna Iyiegbu and the Cubana Group for choosing Delta State for the development, describing the decision as a strong endorsement of the administration’s MORE Agenda. He urged youths to prepare themselves for the job and entrepreneurial opportunities the project will generate.

In his remarks, the Ugoani of Okpanam, HRM Dr. Michael Ogbolu, pledged the community’s full support to ensure the success and protection of the project.
Chairman of Cubana Group, Dr. Obinna Iyiegbu, described the initiative as a world-class ecosystem designed for modern living, noting that the state government’s enabling policies inspired the vision. He commended Governor Oborevwori for creating a conducive environment where investors can “dream bigger and act boldly.”
Iyiegbu emphasized that the Cubana Millennium City—featuring smart homes, integrated commercial zones, entertainment clusters, and green lifestyle spaces—will redefine urban development within the South-South and beyond.
With Tuesday’s groundbreaking ceremony, the Delta State Government reinforced its message to the investment community: the state is open for business, ready for partnerships, and committed to rewarding all investors who believe in its future.
