Delta Government to Reconstruct ECN Road to Boost Mobility and Economic Activities

Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has announced plans to reconstruct the ECN Road as part of the state government’s efforts to enhance urban mobility, open up communities, and stimulate economic activities across Delta State.

The governor made the announcement on Friday at Orhuwhorun in Udu Local Government Area during the 50th and 19th memorial celebration of the late Chief and Madam Palama Akporhierayen, parents of APC chieftain Sir Sheba Kris Palama.
Governor Oborevwori explained that the decision followed persistent complaints over the poor state of the road, which has caused daily hardships for residents, commuters, and businesses operating along the corridor.

He assured that the reconstruction project would be executed to standard and completed within a clearly defined timeline.
The governor noted that the ECN Road project aligns with his administration’s MORE Agenda, which prioritizes quality infrastructure as a catalyst for security, commerce, and improved quality of life for the people.

He also highlighted other achievements, including the upcoming inauguration of the Udu Harbour Market, a project first awarded nearly 18 years ago.

Addressing political office holders and community leaders, Governor Oborevwori stressed the importance of servant leadership, emphasizing that no leader is above the people they serve. “You must be loyal to your people because we are only serving them,” he said, urging leaders to anchor their leadership on humility, accountability, and dedication to the electorate.

Speaking on legacy, the governor commended Sir Sheba Palama for honouring his parents through the memorial celebration, describing it as a noble act that preserves family values and legacy. “When you have children who remember you, your legacy lives on. Today, we remember Esther Palama and Chief Palama. As you have remembered your parents, your children and grandchildren will also remember you,” he remarked.

Governor Oborevwori further emphasized the importance of unity among the people of Udu, noting that sustainable development can only be achieved through collective effort and cooperation. He thanked traditional rulers, community leaders, and residents for their warm reception and reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to inclusive governance and grassroots development across Delta State.
