Delta Governor Approves Automatic Scholarships for Best Graduating Students

Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has approved automatic scholarships for the best graduating students from the state’s four universities a major step toward promoting academic excellence and supporting youth development.

The Delta State Bursary and Scholarship Board announced the initiative, with its Executive Secretary, Dr. Godfrey Enita, noting that the move demonstrates the Governor’s strong commitment to empowering young people under the M.O.R.E. Agenda, especially in the area of human capital development.

Under the new scheme, the top graduating student from each academic session will be selected from Delta State University, Abraka; Southern Delta University, Ozoro; University of Delta, Agbor; and Dennis Osadebay University, Asaba.

Dr. Enita explained that each recipient will receive full sponsorship for Master’s and Ph.D. programmes in accredited Nigerian universities. He stated that beneficiaries must still follow the normal scholarship application and documentation process. He added that the initiative highlights the state government’s dedication to building a highly skilled and globally competitive youth workforce that can drive Delta State’s long-term development.

“The Board remains committed to creating opportunities that uplift our students and reward academic excellence,” Enita said. The new scholarship policy is expected to inspire students across the state universities to aim higher, while strengthening Delta State’s position as a leader in educational development in Nigeria.
