Delta Governor Names Jaro Egbo DESAAA Chairman

Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, has approved the appointment of Olorogun Jaro Egbo as Chairman of the Delta State Signage and Advertisement Agency (DESAAA), a decision widely viewed as a step toward strengthening governance and grassroots political coordination in the state.

The agency is headed administratively by Director-General Hon. Sebasten Okoh.

Egbo, who currently serves as Executive Chairman of Ughelli North Local Government Area, is known for his strong grassroots connection and extensive experience in public service and political organisation. His appointment is expected to bring fresh momentum to DESAAA’s regulatory duties and efforts to boost revenue generation.

Since assuming office in May 2023, Governor Oborevwori has focused on inclusive development and administrative reforms through his MORE agenda an initiative centered on meaningful development, equal opportunities, practical reforms, and improved peace and security.

Reacting to his new role, Egbo expressed appreciation to the governor, describing the appointment as a strong vote of confidence in his leadership.

“I am truly honoured by this opportunity and grateful to His Excellency, Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, for trusting me with this responsibility. It motivates me to contribute even more to the growth and progress of Delta State,” he said.

He also pledged full support for the administration’s MORE agenda, promising to lead the agency in boosting internally generated revenue, ensuring compliance in outdoor advertising, and improving the state’s visual environment.

“The MORE agenda provides a clear and practical path for sustainable development in Delta State. I am committed to supporting this vision and ensuring that government policies have a real impact on the lives of our people,” he added.

Egbo further reaffirmed his commitment to the Renewed Hope Ambassadors, highlighting the group’s role in mobilising grassroots support for good governance and national development.

“As the Ughelli North Coordinator of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors, I remain dedicated to promoting unity, empowerment, and active citizen participation. We will continue working together to strengthen democratic values and development-focused leadership,” he stated.

Observers believe the appointment reflects the state government’s ongoing effort to combine administrative expertise with grassroots inclusion, especially in key areas like signage regulation and urban revenue management. Egbo’s background in local governance and political mobilisation is expected to help reposition DESAAA to meet modern regulatory and governance demands.
