Delta govt to hold seminar for publishers of Community Newspapers, May 20

A seminar for Publishers of community newspapers in Delta State has been scheduled to hold on the 20th of May, in Asaba.

The Senior Special Assistant (SSA) to Delta State Governor on Community Newspapers, Prince Joseph Orhomonokpaye Orhomonokpaye, disclosed this on Monday.

He said, “His Excellency, Rt Hon. Elder Sheriff Oborevwori, the Executive Governor of Delta State, has graciously approved a seminar/workshop to train all community newspapers that are registered with the Office of the SSA. It will also be an avenue to tell them thank you for their support so far and to urge them to continue to support the administration by publishing positive news on the MORE Agenda.”

Prince Orhomonokpaye said the event will be held at Hotel Benizia on the said date at 9:00am, adding that it is a strictly-by-invitation training.

He said further: “If the Office of the SSA did not invite you, you cannot come there and if you come there, you are on your own.”

Speaking further, he said that the seminar is not for all-comers, but meant to train those regular publishers that are promoting the MORE Agenda through their magazines and newspapers.

Adding: “This seminar is also not meant for online publishers. It is meant for the local newspaper and magazine publishers that have hard copies.”

Orhomonokpaye also disclosed that a lecture titled “Impactful Adequate Reporting of the MORE Agenda to the Grassroot” will be delivered by the Rector, Delta State Polytechnic, Otefe-Oghara, Professor Emmanuel Ufuophu-Biri.

Ufuophu-Biri is a Professor of Mass Communication and Journalism.

According to the governor’s aide, the event will also commemorate Oborevwori’s two years in office and also the Publisher of Ika Voice, Mr. Joe Onyibe, who clocked 90 years will be celebrated by other publishers and guests that grace the event.
