The Delta State Government has issued a stern warning to property developers encroaching on land designated for the Kwale Free Trade Zone, threatening immediate demolition of illegal structures.
In a statement signed by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Dr. Kingsley Eze Emu, the government said the directive became necessary to safeguard the multi-billion naira project, which has attracted fresh investors in recent months.
“The State Taskforce on Recovery of Government Lands has been mandated to protect the project’s boundaries and remove all illegal structures forthwith, regardless of their completion stage,” Emu declared.
He warned that demolition is only one of several legal remedies the government may deploy against violators.
The SSG further directed individuals occupying other government lands across the state to vacate immediately, stressing that such illegalities threaten the collective interest of Deltans.
“The government will no longer tolerate actions that derail development projects meant for the common good,” he added.
The Kwale Free Trade Zone, located in Ndokwa West Local Government Area, is a flagship industrial initiative aimed at boosting export processing and job creation.
The renewed investor interest followed infrastructure upgrades and policy incentives by the state government.
The taskforce is expected to swing into action within days, with security agencies on standby to enforce compliance.
Residents and developers have been urged to verify land documents to avoid losses.
