Speakers of the Delta and Lagos States Houses of Assembly, Rt Hon Emomotimi Dennis Guwor and Rt Hon Mudashiru Obasa, has promised to strengthen inter-state legislative ties to drive growth and development in both states.
Speaking in Asaba when they met at the private residence of the Delta Speaker, shortly after the formal ceremony marking Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s defection alongside the entire PDP structure in Delta State to the APC, both leaders emphasized the need for stronger legislative partnerships, enhanced cooperation that would promote good governance and improve the wellbeing of their citizens.
Welcoming Obasa to Delta, Guwor said, “Rt Hon Speaker, Lagos State House of Assembly, i am delighted to welcome you to Delta State and my humble abode. This visit is well appreciated as it has strengthened legislative ties of Delta and Lagos.
“There are lots of potential collaborations between our Assemblies. Let’s explore areas of mutual interest and support each other’s initiatives.
“Our states share common goals. We will continue to discuss ways to foster economic growth, infrastructure development, and social progress”, Guwor assured.
Responding, Obasa thanked Guwor for the warm hospitality and noted that the visit reflected the growing bond between the two states. He described Governor Oborevwori as a personal friend and said the governor’s movement to the APC would enhance Delta’s development.
The meeting was witnessed by key figures including the Majority Leader of the State Assembly, Hon Emeka Nwaobi, the member representing Burutu 2, Pereotu Oloye, Presidential Amnesty Coordinator, Dr Dennis Otuaro and Chief of Staff to the Speaker, Delta State Assembly, Mr ThankGod Seibi.
