Delta Police Arrest Suspected Armed Robber with Pistol Hidden in Loaf of Bread

The Delta State Police Command has arrested a suspected armed robber and kidnapper found in possession of a fabricated Beretta pistol ingeniously concealed inside a loaf of bread — an operation authorities hailed as proof of effective intelligence-led policing.

According to a statement issued by the Command, the arrest occurred on November 6, 2025, around 8:45 a.m., during a routine stop-and-search operation conducted by the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) at Koka Roundabout in Asaba.

Officers reportedly noticed a young man exhibiting suspicious behavior, prompting a thorough search that led to the shocking discovery of the hidden weapon.

The suspect, identified as 24-year-old Nnamdi Stanley Chibuike of Ogbeowele Quarters, behind General Hospital Asaba, was immediately detained. The recovered pistol has since been secured as an exhibit while investigations continue to determine his potential links to recent armed robbery and kidnapping cases across Asaba and neighboring communities.

Commissioner of Police, CP Abaniwonda Olufemi, praised the RRS operatives for their vigilance and professionalism, describing the incident as a demonstration of the Command’s sustained intelligence-driven strategy. He reaffirmed the police’s commitment to identifying and prosecuting criminal elements regardless of their tactics or concealment methods.

CP Abaniwonda further urged residents to remain alert and provide credible information to law enforcement agencies, assuring that all tips would be treated confidentially. He reiterated the Command’s resolve to safeguard the lives and property of all Delta State residents, emphasizing that proactive policing remains central to the state’s crime-prevention efforts.

The operation has since drawn public commendation for its precision and has been cited as another example of Delta State’s evolving security strategy under intensified community surveillance and rapid response measures.
