The Delta State Police Command has received 136 newly trained constables who successfully completed a six-month intensive training program at the Police Training School, Ogida, in Benin City, Edo State.
The new officers, who passed through rigorous academic, physical, and tactical drills, are part of the latest effort by the Nigeria Police Force to strengthen grassroots security and deepen the implementation of the community policing strategy across the country.
Speaking during the official reception ceremony, the Commissioner of Police, Delta State Command, congratulated the recruits on their successful completion of the training, describing their induction as the beginning of “a new and noble phase of service to the nation.”
He emphasized that policing is a call to duty that requires discipline, courage, and integrity, urging the officers to uphold the highest standards of professionalism in the discharge of their responsibilities.
“You are now in the business of protecting lives and property,” he said.
“Your conduct must reflect the core values of the Nigeria Police Force — honesty, accountability, and dedication to service. You must be examples to the society you have sworn to protect.”
The Commissioner further disclosed that the new constables would be deployed to their respective local government areas in Delta State to enhance community engagement and trust between the police and the public.
He explained that local deployment remains a key element of the community policing initiative, allowing officers to operate in familiar environments and collaborate effectively with residents and traditional institutions.
He expressed confidence that the new recruits would contribute significantly to ongoing efforts to curb crime, maintain peace, and strengthen security across the State.
