The Delta Special Economic Zone said it has made significant strides in attracting over ten investments and redefining the ease of doing business in Delta State.
The Managing Director and CEO, Delta Special Economic Zone, Mr Godwin Akpovie, disclosed this on Saturday as the Zone marks its second year anniversary in Asaba, the Delta State capital.
Akpovie noted that the Delta Special Economic Zone was inaugurated on May 23, 2023 by former Governor Ifeanyi Okowa with the objective of attracting local and foreign investors to the state.
The Managing Director listed Xenergi Limited, Chorus Energy, Blue Seal, Eastern Metals, 3H Farms, Okime Partners and Advisors, and China Clean Energy Technology Company, among others, attracted investments within the two years of imagination.
He said, “As Delta Special Economic Zone marks its second anniversary, it is evident that the Zone has made significant strides in attracting investments and redefining the ease of doing business in Delta State.
“We have been working tirelessly to achieve its objectives of attracting local and foreign investors, generating employment opportunities, and boosting economic prosperity in the state in line with the MORE Agenda of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori.
“Strategically located in Koko and Kwale, Delta Special Economic Zone, a voting member of the World Free Zones Organisation, boasts rich natural resources, expanding infrastructure, and investor-friendly policies, making it an attractive destination for sustainable investment and development.
“Delta Special Economic Zone can be considered a success story, judging by the number of companies that have invested and those indicating interest.”
Akpovie highlighted the zone’s achievements, noting a notable increase in investments from companies like Eastern Metals, Xenergi Limited, Chorus Energy, and others.
He said the zone also has potential developers such as Okime Partners and Advisors, China Clean Energy Technology Company, and others.
The MD explained that the zone has partnered with the African Development Bank for the Special Agro-Industrial Processing Zones Programme and is developing the KGG Gas Eco-Industrial Park with the Delta State Government and Xenergi Limited.
In his remarks, the Board Chairman of the Delta Special Economic Zone Gen. Michael Ndubuisi retd said he was thrilled with the progress the Zone made in just two years.
He added that the zone’s ability to attract investments and drive economic growth was a testament to the vision of the Delta State Government and the dedication of the zone’s leadership.
