Delta Speaker Guwor Congratulates Okowa on Appointment as South-South Coordinator of Renewed Hope Initiative

Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Dennis Guwor, has congratulated the immediate-past Governor of Delta State, Dr. Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa, on his appointment as South-South Coordinator of the Renewed Hope Initiative by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

In a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Nkem Nwaeke, the Speaker described the appointment as “well-deserved,” noting that the Assembly anticipates a significant transformative impact from Dr. Okowa’s stewardship on both the South-South region and the nation at large.

Rt. Hon. Guwor stated that Dr. Okowa’s integrity, strategic vision, proven competence and exceptional ability to mobilise stakeholders earned him the confidence of the President and the admiration of leaders across the country. He stressed that Okowa’s political experience and deep understanding of the challenges and opportunities within the South-South geopolitical zone place him in a vantage position to drive the objectives of the Renewed Hope Initiative.

Guwor, who serves as the National Treasurer of the Conference of Speakers of State Houses of Assembly, highlighted the former governor’s unwavering commitment to regional development and his track record of transparent and accountable governance. He added that Okowa’s appointment indicates a renewed push for inclusive growth and infrastructure expansion in the Niger Delta.

“His Excellency, Dr. Okowa’s leadership will be pivotal in translating the President’s vision into tangible projects that uplift the people of the South-South and reinforce the administration’s commitment to equitable national development,” the Speaker said.

The Delta Speaker expressed confidence that strengthened collaboration among the Delta State Government, the Renewed Hope Initiative and the Federal Government will help advance President Tinubu’s developmental agenda and boost his prospects for a successful re-election in 2027.

Rt. Hon. Guwor assured that the Delta State House of Assembly stands ready to support the former governor as he assumes his new responsibilities as the South-South Coordinator of the Renewed Hope Initiative.
