Delta State College of Education partners DELSU on Warri Business School

Delta State College of Education, Warri, is partnering with Delta State University to establish a Warri Business School for the benefit of Warri, Delta State community.

This is just as the college has celebrated several stones and achieved significant growth and development under the leadership of its provost, Dr. Dickson Oyovwi.

Showcasing various projects initiated by his administration and undertaken by the Tertiary Education Trust Fund, Dr Oyovwi said that for the first time, students of the college now live on campus, adding that even nursing students from the Delta State College of Science are now accommodated in hostels in the college.

He revealed that his students, who possess UTME registration numbers, are now eligible for NELFUND, adding that under his watch, the institution maintains a zero-tolerance policy for examination malpractice, sexual harassment and cult-related activities.

Dr. Oyovwi emphasized that his administrative style aligns with Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s MORE Agenda, prioritizing real governance in the state.

He said that the college, apart from its partnership with DELSU, has also partnered with Ignatius Ajuru University of Education, Port Harcourt in Rivers State to offer undergraduate, postgraduate, and PhD programmes.

He listed one of the notable milestones achieved by the college under his watch to include the commissioning of a new hostel facility through a Public-Private-Partnership initiative and the approval of a 400-room capacity standard hostel facility by TETFUND.

He said, “The institution has also benefited from TETFUND’s High Impact Project and Special Intervention projects, enhancing its infrastructure.

“Other developments in the institution include the installation of free WiFi by the National Communication Commission, provision of solar street lights by the Niger Delta Development Commission, and renovation of the ICT building by TETFUND.”

Not resting on his oars, Dr Oyovwi announced plans by the College of Education to establish a pure water factory to generate internal revenue and provide services to the school and neighbouring communities.

He added that students of the institution will receive vocational training in water production among other skills, to promote entrepreneurial development.

He added that the college has strengthened its workforce and fostered cordial relationships with other institutions, including the University of Benin, Ignatius Ajuru University of Education, and DELSU, Abraka, adding with pride that the college, in its collaboration with   Ignatius Ajuru University of Education has produced its first Masters’ programme graduates, marking a significant achievement.
