Delta State Polytechnic Otefe-Oghara, secures 16 new academic programmes

Delta State Polytechnic, Otefe-Oghara, has secured approval from the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) to introduce 16 new academic programmes, marking a significant milestone in its educational offerings.

The approval follows a rigorous resource verification exercise conducted by the NBTE.

Announcing the development during the Polytechnic’s 2024 Nine Lessons and Carols Festival, Rector, Professor Emmanuel Ufuophu-Biri, revealed that the new programmes span a diverse range of disciplines, including Food Science and Technology, Mechatronics Engineering, and Photography and Multimedia Technology.

“This expansion aligns with our commitment to providing globally competitive and sustainable education,” the Rector said.

The Polytechnic now offers 46 academic programmes, a feat Professor Ufuophu-Biri attributed to the unwavering support of Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Elder Sheriff Oborevwori.

“Governor Oborevwori has shown exceptional dedication to advancing education in Delta State. His financial, material, and moral support have been instrumental in this achievement,” he remarked.

“Our team recently developed a fuel-less generator based on a symbiotic mechanistic operation pattern, a unique innovation that underscores our commitment to impactful research,” Professor Ufuophu-Biri stated proudly.

Further appreciation was extended to the Commissioner for Higher Education, Professor Nyerovwo Tonukari, and the State House Committee on Education, chaired by Chief Charles Emetulu.

The introduction of these programmes is expected to boost the Polytechnic’s profile as a hub for technical education and innovation in Nigeria, further cementing its role in national development.
