DESOPADEC Chair Inspects Ashaka De-Silting Project, Urges Residents to Protect Drainage Systems

The Chairman of the Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (DESOPADEC), Olorogun John Nani, on Tuesday, carried out an on-the-spot inspection of ongoing de-silting works in Ashaka, Ndokwa East Local Government Area.

Joined by Dr. Charles Olisa, the Board member representing the Ndokwa ethnic nationality, Nani reaffirmed the Commission’s resolve to deliver on its core mandate and address community needs across its operational areas.

He explained that the intervention is designed to curb flash flooding by clearing blocked drainage channels and urged residents to stop indiscriminate waste disposal, which could compromise the project’s effectiveness.

Dr. Olisa lauded the Board Chairman’s timely visit and called for the extension of similar flood-mitigation efforts to other parts of Ndokwa land.

Also present at the inspection were Comrade Kingsley Iweka, Senior Special Assistant to the Governor, and officials from Ndokwa East LGA’s Environmental Department.

The visit highlights DESOPADEC’s proactive approach to safeguarding communities and improving infrastructure in oil-producing areas.
