The Chairman, Governing Board, DESTMA, Chief Peter Idion gave the warning during a sensitisation programme against road trading held at Baleke market, Agbor in Delta State.

The outcome of the operation, which lasted more than two hours, was a complete decongestion of the road, a feat which was difficult to achieve in the past.

Chiefs Louis Usifoh, Erere Ojemudia, Gideon Okobia, Collins Ekiegini, Kester Utebor, Joseph Eluma and Nkem Oghonim, all from Agbor Royal Palace, in their separate remarks, condemned the attitude of traders who carried out their activities in the middle of a road. They advised traders to stay off the road for the safety of their lives.

Other stakeholders, such as the Officer in charge of Revenue, Mr Fortunate Agholor and the Chairman, Committee, on Environment, Mr Famous Abaye, both Ika South Local Government Council agreed to partner with DESTMA in the management of traffic in major markets and roads in Agbor.

Reacting, the traders, through their leader, Mrs Agowonyi and the Market Master, Mr Tony Emegha after the sensitisation programme, assured DESTMA of total compliance.

Motorists and other road users applauded the DESTMA Chairman and his officers for a job well done. They commended Governor Oborevwori for appointing the right persons into the DESTMA Board who are capable of delivering assigned duties.
